Top Ten (#7) Book-Loving Characters

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. For more details of this feature you can check out The Broke and the Bookish.

I have not read a whole lot of books that features book nerds like me but I think this is a pretty decent list. Also, note that some characters are loosely interpreted by me as book nerds.

1. Liesel Meminger || The Book Thief
          Nothing screams book nerd/lover as a book thief. At a young age, Liesel knew that books/words can be powerful.
2. Hermione Granger || Harry Potter series
          Hermione would probably the model for book nerds. I mean, she's not a "nerd" per se but a very smart. book-loving, character.
3. Tyrion Lannister || A Song of Fire and Ice series
          Pardon my laziness, it should be A Song of Fire and Ice but I've put Game of Thrones and I'm too lazy to re-edit it. Back to Tyrion, he's also smart and books are his solace (I guess?). Also, he could read books bigger than him (in the TV series, at least), so there's that. As to why he reads so much, "A mind needs books like a sword needs a whetstone."
4. Hazel Grace || The Fault in Our Stars
          She grew closer with Augustus Waters because of their shared love for books. And she used her (Augustus') precious wish to meet an author.
6. Cathy || Fangirl
          A girl who wrote fanfiction because of her love for a book character, where have I heard of that before? Oh yeah right! From a lot of book nerds, duh.
7. Rachel || Devoted
         One of the reasons why she was ostracized (aside from the obvious, of course) from her family is because she read a book. She read a book. How is that a crime? And through out the book, Rachel flew through Lauren's (and Matt's) book shelf.
8/9. Tessa & Will || The Infernal Devices trilogy
          Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.
          Sometimes, when I have to do something I don't want to do, I pretend I'm a character from a book. It's easier to know what they would do. I'm not even going to explain this.
          Dash would probably the book-loving character that I could relate to. I bet he'd pee his pants if he went to dictionary shop, specifically shops that has Oxford Expanded Dictionary. Additionally, he also "met" Lily via the book from a library.

So that's it. Who are in your list for characters that's book nerds?

  1. Great list here and some of my favs, for sure. Woohoo, for Rainbow Rowell fans. I included Eleanor & Park since comic nerds needed some representation too. I cannot believe how many I forgot though that I love and didn't include!

    1. I totally forgot about Eleanor & Park! Also, don't worry, you're not alone in the "I didn't believe I didn't include this person in my list" boat.

    1. I didn't like the book that much either but I can't seem to forget this obsession of Hazel Grace to meet the author of her favorite book.

  3. I added Will, but I don't know why I didn't include Tessa. How could I have forgotten Hazel Grace? Great list!

  4. Awesome list!! You totally hooked me in for Devoted, and now I really wanna get my hands on it and figure out what the frick frack is wrong with her family for hating books. That hurts my soul. Also, I like to imagine what Tessa and Will's library looked like in their home. It was probably fantastic and looked like a legit library with moving ladders and comfy couches and a huge fireplace :)

    1. Thank you! I love Devoted so I hope you'll like it, too!
      Also, have you seen the "The Giver" movie? The bookshelf of the Giver was what I always imagine Tessa & Will's library looked like.
      Thank you for stopping by!

  5. Devoted is such a great book. I love that the book that she loves enough to risk disobeying her father is Madeleine L'Engle, too. Great list!
