Synopsis:
Juliana Telford is not your average nineteenth-century young lady. She’s much more interested in researching ladybugs than marriage, fashionable dresses, or dances. So when her father sends her to London for a season, she’s determined not to form any attachments. Instead, she plans to secretly publish their research.
Spencer Northam is not the average young gentleman of leisure he appears. He is actually a spy for the War Office, and is more focused on acing his first mission than meeting eligible ladies. Fortunately, Juliana feels the same, and they agree to pretend to fall for each other. Spencer can finally focus, until he is tasked with observing Juliana’s traveling companions . . . and Juliana herself.

★★★☆☆

I love historical fiction and romance novels. This book just so happen to be both! You can only imagine how excited I am in reading this book. From the moment I read the synopsis, I knew I'm going to love this. I mean a peculiar, young woman AND a spy? Now that's something to feel excited about.

The main characters, Juliana and Spencer were characters that most would definitely love. Juliana, isn't like any woman, oh no, not at all. She's carefree and a bit reckless; she's more interested in lady beetles than marriages and what not. Spencer, on the other hand, was a mysterious young man (at least from Juliana's point of view). He's not like the others, he respected and admire Juliana's curiosity and her drive to do what she wants. Put the two together, what do we have? A cute, cute couple! They are very compatible and is very sweet.

My only problem with this was the pacing. I think the flow of the story is rather slow. Plus, the ending was a bit of a stretch but other than that, I absolutely enjoyed reading this book.

If you like a fun and quick read, you'll definitely love this one!

About the author:
She has lived on three continents, had a monkey in her yard and a scorpion under her sink, dwelt among castles and canals, enjoyed the jazz of Beale St and attempted to speak French.

Cindy loves history, mystery and… a chocolate Labrador called Chester. Love, Lies and Spies is her debut novel.
