MMW | June '16

I know, I know, it's almost August already... but I really wanted to follow up with my movie wrap-ups, so yeah.
June month was a rather busy month for me. I watched most of the movies before the start of my uni class, which is quite plenty. Here's a little breakdown (title, release date, my rating, and my thoughts and whatnot) of all the movies I watched last month:
Little disclaimer: All of this are just my opinion, I don't intend to hurt anyone with my opinion. Also, there might be spoilers for the movie,s so read at your own risk.

The Usual Suspects
Initial/Release Date: February 22, 1996
1001 Must Watch Movies? Yes
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: This movie was spectacular. I mean, if you haven't watched it, you should. The plot twist here is so damn good. The line up scene? (The shadow version of this is the production logo of Bad Hat Harry Productions, a production company founded by Bryan Singer, the director of this movie.) It's my favorite part of the movie.
It was so hilarious (the actors thought so, too)!
But why the three star, you'll probably ask, it's because I am spoiled about who Keyser Soze is five minutes into the movie. I like knowing what I'm going to watch so I googled this movie and I accidentally clicked on Keyser Soze and *bam* I saw who Keyser am. It's probably more fun to guess who Keyser is, if I didn't spoil myself.
Note: If you haven't watch this, please don't search Keyser Soze, don't make the same mistake I did.

Dracula Untold
Initial/Release Date: October 1, 2014
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: I am probably more amused with the fact that Art Parkinson and Charles Dance (a.k.a. Rickon and Tywin Lannister, respectively, from Game of Thrones) was in this movie than the fact that an archer from Esgaroth is playing Vlad the Impaler.
The ending was not what I expected - I liked the ending more than I liked the overall story of the movie.
Favorite quote: I will fight beside you until death.
Your death would end my fight.

San Andreas
Initial/Release Date: May 27, 2015
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: You won't know how freaking amused am I to see Art Parkinson, yet again, on a movie. Anyway, for a disaster film, this is pretty disastrous and not in a good way. How this got a higher rating than Into the Storm is beyond me. Don't you worry, Alexandra and Dwayne, I'll still watch Baywatch. Also, I thought I am going to see more of Colton Haynes' character after his stupid scene but apparently you only need, like, ten, fifteen minutes tops, to be on the cast list.

Victor Frankenstein
Initial/Release Date: November 25, 2015
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: The only thing I like about this movie is the actors. I change their characters to their more famous character: James McAvoy, Daniel Radcliffe, Andrew Scott, and Charles Dance (Professor X, Harry Potter, Jim Moriarty, and Tywin Lannister[!!!] respectively) and that alone made me laugh my a// off.
Hmmm, that's pretty much it. It's boring and to be honest, this can rival a disaster film (yes, I'm talking to you, San Andreas).

Mood of the Day
Initial/Release Date: January 14, 2016
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: Good movie, bad story.
There were so many funny and sweet scenes but I find it too unrealistic. I don't like insta-love. Although, technically, that's not what happened in this movie **SPOILER AHEAD** It's not the love at first sight kind of insta-love, it's the 24 hours falling in love kind of insta-love.
If you like any kind of romance film, though, you'll probably like this one (like my sister).

Love 911
Initial/Release Date: December 19, 2012
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: This movie has the right amount of romance, comedy and drama. The acting was hilariously good. Definitely up my alley. Also, the scene following this gif is so funny, I still laugh whenever I think about it.

Fantastic Four
Initial/Release Date: August 5, 2015
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: The sole reason I watched this movie is so that I can watch CinemaSins featuring this movie. When I first heard the cast line-up, I was pretty excited; I knew all of those actors, they're pretty good but, dang, what happened?

My Rainy Days
Initial/Release Date: November 7, 2009
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: I've seen multiple references to this movie on 9gag. Most of the responses I saw was good so I decided to watch this one. I didn't know what this was all about when I watched it. I did not like it that much but the ending was pretty damn good.

Before We Go
Initial/Release Date: September 12, 2014
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: A movie that have Chris Evans? Yes, please! Chris Evans as the producer, actor AND director? That fact alone made me want to watch it. Was this good? Hmmm, yes but not that good but what I really liked was the open or ambiguous ending. I don't know what the hell happened, at the end, but I think that it's a suitable ending.
Favorite quote: There is no perfect. There will always be struggle. You just have to pick who you want to struggle with.

The Conjuring 2
Initial/Release Date: June 9, 2016
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: I watched this movie a week after it was released because the publicity for this is so good. Nah, just kidding. This has been on my radar when I first heard about the sequel for the first one. This movie is not that scary, I think there's some scenes that were pretty surprising but it's really not that scary. Also, I am certain that I saw Valak's name spelled on the bookshelf, when Lorraine is reading, with her daughter making bracelets.
My initial reaction to this, really, was Insidious-ception. I had a hard time recalling the synopsis of this movie mainly because of our main man, Patrick Wilson, who plays Ed Warren on this movie also plays Josh Lambert on Insidious.

Inglourious Basterds
Initial/Release Date: December 9, 2009
1001 Must Watch Movies? Yes
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: This was a critically acclaimed movie and I can see why. The acting of Brad Pitt (his accent!) & Christoph Waltz is superb, especially Waltz. I may have found yet another favorite actor.
Also, is this, like, the movie version of Game of Thrones? It seems that all men must die when I was watching it.
ps: Liutenant Hicox (played by Michael Fassbender) reminds me so much of Captain Nicholls (played by Tom Hiddleston in War Horse)

Now You See Me 2
Initial/Release Date: June 9, 2016
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: I love Now You See Me. It was so much more than I expected. I was surprised with the plot twists and I am so happy with the portrayal of the casts. I have it in my favorite-movies-ever. So, imagine my excitement when I first heard of a sequel!
(That's Christoph Waltz from Inglourious Basterds, I just couldn't resist to add this one.)
But alas, I was pretty disappointed with this movie. They added Daniel Radcliffe and Lizzy Caplan to the list of amazing cast (minus my favorite main girl, Isla Fisher) but I am just not sold with the story. There's a plot twist here and there but for some reason, I am not amused it compared to my awe on the first movie. I still love the magic scenes and the "how they did it" scenes, though.

Para Sa Hopeless Romantic
Initial/Release Date: May 13, 2015
1001 Must Watch Movies? No
My rating: ðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸðŸŒŸ
My thoughts and whatnot: This is a book to movie adaptation based on the novel of the same name. Even though I didn't really like the book, I can honestly say that the book is better than the movie. Why? Simple, there's really no story on this movie.

Movies watched this month: 13
Average rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (2.78)
⬆️ That is pretty low average. Maybe watching movies from 1001 Movies You Must Watch Before You Die really changes one's movie taste?
(Approximate) time watching movies: 1,481 minutes (24.68 hours // a little over a day?!)
