Mia (or Ruby? This confuses me) has this big crush on her brother Blake's best friend, Drew, until Drew's big betrayal that is. Almost a year later, when Drew finally came back to school, he's different. He's scarred and damaged. After being assigned as group mates for a school project, they become reluctant friends again and it slightly developed into something more. But Mia's torn between her feelings for Drew and her loyalty for her brother.

There comes a time when a book leaves you nothing but one word: meh. And the time has arrived for me. I feel very neutral about this book. Not bad but not good either. Just plain bland meh. This book has so much potential, it could've been expounded, developed into a more better story line.

My main issue here? The characters. I know people view Drew as this damaged boy but I only saw a douche or a jerk, I couldn't pick one. Drew obviously didn't hear about the bro code and broke gazillion rules. This type of guys are what grind my gears.I liked Ruby when she was at the hospital, though. She seems strong. Then came the ending and I was like... what the fuck happened? The supporting/other characters were rather bland for my liking.

Overall, it was a quick yet meh read for me.

Did I like the ending? My reaction when I read the ending: O-O. What in the actual fuck is that? It escalated quickly, to be honest.
Is it a page turner? A bit, yeah.
Would I re-read it again? Nope. Not sure.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Not until I was an adult. I used to read a lot. Still do. But hadn’t thought I’d have the talent to write until about 12 years ago.

Where did you get ideas for this book?

I was watching the news one day and saw a story about a young guy who’d been burned badly in a fire and it got me wondering how he’d cope with life from that moment on.

How long did it take you to write this book (compare to your other books)?

This book took a little longer than my others because my publisher kept asking me to revise the proposal I’d submitted. Once I had approval to write it then it took about 6 months.

Can you describe your writing process?

Because I work full-time my time is precious, so I plan in detail. First, I do a beat sheet, and from that I do a story-board. After that I begin to write the book.

What's the most surprising things you've learned in writing this (or any other) book?

I did a lot of research on burn victims and learned a lot about how the actual burns feel – I had no idea that they itched so badly.

Anything you would like to change in this book?

No, I’m happy with the final result.

Do you have writing inspirations? Who are they and how did they affect you as a writer?

Elizabeth Scott inspired me, especially her book Living Dead Girl. It gave me the courage to write my book In The Blood, which is a very dark story featuring a guy who has to deal with the consequences of his dad being found guilty of the murder and abuse of 5 young boys.

What would you do if you're Ruby from Falling for the Wrong Guy?

I wouldn’t change a thing. She refused to go back out with Drew when he wanted to keep their relationship a secret, even though she loved him. I admire her for that.

Who do you like better, Ruby Davis or Drew?

That’s like asking a parent to choose their favorite child! I love them both equally. Neither have had lives which are easy, and I understand what makes them react in certain ways.

What's next for you?

I’m working on the first in a series of YA novellas called Murder in Mind. The first one will be out in an anthology at the end of the year. It will also come out separately. It’s called Running out of Time.

About the author:
I was born in Northampton, England, the eldest of 4 children (I have 3 younger brothers), and I took my eldest child responsibilities very seriously. When I said jump, they asked how high. They’re all a lot taller than me now, so I’ve had to change tactics for getting my own way.

But all the time I was never content. I knew there was something missing, just didn’t know what. Until I discovered writing.

I wasn’t one of those people who wrote from being a small child. I did read though. I’ve always been an avid reader. And it took me a few years of thinking about writing before I actually started. But now, I wouldn’t do anything else, and I never get bored!

In my spare time I love going to the movies, watching TV, walking on the beach, and playing with our gorgeous Labrador.
