Top Ten (#5) Hyped Books I've Not Read
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. For more details of this feature you can check out The Broke and the Bookish.
1. Harry Potter (series) - This book was first published on 1997, why the hell have I not read it? Now before you throw all the shoes you have there, I have a pretty good reason why I haven't read this series. Okay, I don't have a good reason, I just don't like reading children's/middle grade book,
2. The 5th Wave - The hype of this book was pretty big, upon its release and the announcement of the movie adaptation. I haven't had a chance to be swooned by other people's hype.
3. The Lightning Thief - Did I have a good childhood? That's probably what you're thinking right now. Yes, I have a pretty great childhood but reading children's/middle grade especially fantasy (even if it's mythology, my favorite topic in lit) wasn't really my forte.
4. Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) - The hype for this book (and series) was pretty big, too. I mean this was in every booktuber's list of great releases. Unpopular opinion here, I didn't really like the first one despite the rave reviews I've read. And this second book was bound to be the same, I guess. I have a copy so I might read this, but not soon...
5. Ruby Red - This was adapted to a movie so I guess this one's pretty hyped to have an adaptation, right? It has a great premise so maybe I'll read this soon.
6. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - I've only heard of this book last year and the hype was great that I still heard rave reviews here and there.
7. Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) - Tell me that Throne of Glass isn't hyped. You can't right? This series has been in everyone's (I'm guessing) top list, but not mine. I've given the first book a generous three stars. Celaena was a character that I find hard to like. *dodges a shoe*
8-10. The Darkest Minds (Darkest Minds #1), Shadow and Bone (#1), The Daughter of Smoke & Bone (#1) - I've seen this books multiple times in booktube and blogger community and oftentimes, I see this book in bookstagram, too. If that isn't hyped yet I'm not sure what books are hyped.
Runner ups:
The Heir - I've said this before but I'll say it again. I like the Selection trilogy better than the series. Trilogy should stay trilogy. If they'll add more, why not create a spin-off series or companion novel?
The Final Empire - I'm just starting to like high fantasy and a book/series as thick as this one was enough to scare me.
The Raven Boys - I'm not sure this one is up my alley but let's see.

For so long, I had only read Harry Potter I; I thought that was enough. Finally, I was pressured and pressured, so when the last book came out, I started with book one and read them all through.
ReplyDeleteYou should at least read book one. You really must.
Here's my TTT post!
I would! As soon as I buy a physical copy!

Percy Jackson series is actually one of my favorite! It's interesting and funny. I agree with The Heir! I think it's unimportant to add a book to a series. Spin-off is way better!
ReplyDeleteI tried reading Percy Jackson but I couldn't finish it. I'll try again as soon as possible.

Shadow and Bone and Daughter of Smoke and Bone are fantastic, you should give them a chance. The Heir pretty much is a spin-off series. It's only book #4 because the characters from the first trilogy are in it, but not main characters. I was nervous about reading it since it's Maxon and America's child, but it won me over. It wasn't weird like I thought it would be. The 5th Wave totally deserved the hype, it blew me away.

I have a copy of every book in the list (except Harry Potter) so I'll try reading it soon as soon as I finish all the books I've requested.

Great list. I have wanted to check out Ruby Red for a while because it sounds like something I'd really enjoy! Same with The Darkest Minds.

I wanted to read Ruby Red because it has a movie so that should be great.

If middle-grade fantasy isn't your thing, then I wouldn't recommend Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. I forgot about The Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I agree that it's a popular one.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter and Percy Jackson is high on my list of series priority but I couldn't get into it.
