Synopsis
Alex fights a daily battle to figure out the difference between reality and delusion. Armed with a take-no-prisoners attitude, her camera, a Magic 8-Ball, and her only ally (her little sister), Alex wages a war against her schizophrenia, determined to stay sane long enough to get into college. She’s pretty optimistic about her chances until classes begin, and she runs into Miles. Didn't she imagine him? Before she knows it, Alex is making friends, going to parties, falling in love, and experiencing all the usual rites of passage for teenagers. But Alex is used to being crazy. She’s not prepared for normal.
Funny, provoking, and ultimately moving, this debut novel featuring the quintessential unreliable narrator will have readers turning the pages and trying to figure out what is real and what is made up.

She hustled to get inside my bedroom door before I closed it. Even in the room I'd slept in for seventeen years, the place I knew better than anywhere else, I had to make sure nothing was out of ordinary.

Sounds interesting. I don't think I've ever read a book where the main character had schizophrenia. I'm spotlighting The Leveler by Julia Durango - a science fiction book from my review stack. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've been debating whether or not to get this at the library - sounds like I'll have to. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
I've watched a true story on TV about this and the book sounds fascinating.

Interesting, a teen female with diagnosed schizophrenia is rare in that realm. Beautiful cover, thanks for sharing this one, I'll have to look into it.
