Author Spotlight: Queen CoHo

I dedicate this (probably long) post to my new adult queen: Colleen Hoover.
To those who doesn't know her, where have you been? She wrote numerous new adult series/trilogy namely Hopeless, Maybe, Slammed, Never Never. She also wrote ugly love which, BTW, is a soon to be made film featuring Nick freaking Bateman! I've read all Colleen Hoover books so far so I'm allowed to gush. Anyway, without further ado, here are Colleen Hoover books: (Oh and also, that's Colleen Hoover at the lower right of the covers. Isn't she lovely?)

Hopeless Series:
Hopeless (Publication date: December 19th 2012 | MY RATING: ★★★★★)
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn't at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

Losing Hope (Publication date: July 8th 2013 | MY RATING: ★★★★★)
Fun fact: That's Griffin Peterson in the cover.
In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.
Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him… Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends.
In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

Finding Cinderella (Publication date: October 14th 2013 | MY RATING: ★★★★★)
A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe. When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.
One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality.
Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same. Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

Maybe series:
Maybe Someday (Publication date: March 18th 2014 | MY RATING: ★★★★★)
At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She's in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter's cheating on her--and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one...

Maybe Not (Publication date: November 24th 2014 | MY RATING: ★★★)
When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.
Or maybe not.
Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.
Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?
Maybe.
Maybe not.

Slammed series:
Slammed (Publication date: January 5th 2012 | MY RATING: ★★★)
Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.
Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.
Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

Point of Retreat (Publication date: February 25th 2012 | MY RATING: ★★★★★)
Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union.
As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

THIS GIRL (Publication date: April 30th 2013 | MY RATING: ★★★★★)
In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.
Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything; until someone from Will's past re-emerges, leaving Layken questioning the very foundation on which their relationship was built. Will is forced to face the ultimate challenge...
How to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop 'carving pumpkins.'

Never Never series (with Tarryn Fisher):
Never Never (Publication date: January 7th 2015 | My rating: ★★★)
Best friends since they could walk.
In love since the age of fourteen.
Complete strangers since this morning.
He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget.

Never Never: Part two (Publication date: May 17th 2015)

Stand Alones:
Ugly Love (Publication date: august 5th 2014 | MY RATING: ★★★★★)
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn't love at first sight. They wouldn't even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction.
Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn't want love, she doesn't have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all. Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Confess (Publication date: March 10th 2015)
Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn't expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.
For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.
The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

November Nine (Publication date: November 10th 2015 [duh])
This is a love story between a guy (me) and a girl (Fallon).
I think.
Can it even be considered a love story if it doesn't end with love?
Mysteries end when the mystery is solved.
Biographies end when the life story has been told.
Love stories should end with love, right?
Maybe I’m wrong, then. Maybe this isn't a love story. If you ask me…I’d say this might even be considered a tragedy.
Whatever it is—however it ends—I promised I would tell it.
So without further ado.
Once upon a time…I met a girl.
The girl.

Hate Letter (Publication date: August 1st 2016) *COVER PHOTO YET TO BE REVEALED*

That's 14 books in a span of 4 (2012-2016) years, people! Obviously, I have loved every single book she released. I swear Colleen Hoover knows how to write a very great novel. May it be a novel, novella, stand alone or series. That's why I made her my queen of the new adult genre. I'm very excited with what Colleen Hoover have in store for us (e.g. Hate Letter, November Nine, Confess, etc.).
And to all Filipinos out there! Good news: Colleen Hoover will be in attendance in this year's Manila International Book Fair!
