Synopsis:
“The mother I knew would never do those things.
But maybe I never knew her after all.”

Clothes, jokes, coded messages…Cecilia Brooks and her mom shared everything. At least, CeCe thought they did. Six months ago, her mom killed herself after accusations of having sex with a student, and CeCe’s been the subject of whispers and taunts ever since. Now, at the start of her high school senior year, between dealing with her grieving, distracted father, and the social nightmare that has become her life, CeCe just wants to fly under the radar. Instead, she’s volunteering at the school’s crisis hotline—the same place her mother worked.

As she counsels troubled strangers, CeCe’s lingering suspicions about her mom’s death surface. With the help of Sam, a new student and newspaper intern, she starts to piece together fragmented clues that point to a twisted secret at the heart of her community. Soon, finding the truth isn’t just a matter of restoring her mother’s reputation, it’s about saving lives—including CeCe’s own…

This book is phenomenal. For real. It is a very well-thought-out book and it's evident with just how the book was written. I like the writing style, I could really feel the raw feelings and emotion that the characters were having and to that, I give kudos to Ms. Dunn (awesome job!).
Don't even get me started with the characters! The characters were well-developed (not all, though), especially our main character, Cece. It is such an adventure following her journey in finding out the truth about her mother's death. Seeing (or reading or whatever it is called) her develop into this independent, strong woman from a shell of her former self was some an "eye-opening" experience, too.
The book was fast paced, yes, and it would leave you guessing what would happen next. Although, I guess who's who right from the start, I had a really great time reading the scenes that I like to call "the unfolding." The ending was a bit rushed, in my opinion, I would have love to have a more elaborate climax and conclusion.

Overall, this was a truly remarkable book! It has a gripping story that would make you want to know more.
